Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Papi AI ("we", "us", "the app") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and website.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide:
- First name and avatar choice — entered during onboarding. Stored locally on your device.
- Chat messages — anything you type or paste into the app, including questions, screenshots, and conversation context.
- Photos and screenshots — images you upload for analysis (profile reviews, screenshot replies).
- Voice recordings — short audio clips when you use voice input, processed for transcription.
- Per-match notes — context you save about specific people you're talking to.
Information collected automatically:
- Anonymous device identifier — a randomly generated UUID stored on your device. We do not collect IDFA, IDFV, advertising IDs, or device fingerprints.
- App version and crash diagnostics — basic technical data for stability.
We do not collect: your email address, phone number, real name, contacts, location, browsing history, or any data linked to your real-world identity.
2. How we use your information
- To generate AI replies, screenshot analyses, and profile feedback you request.
- To remember context across conversations within the same device (per-match memory).
- To transcribe voice input and synthesize spoken replies.
- To maintain and improve the app (crash diagnostics, performance).
We do not use your data for advertising, do not sell your data, and do not share it with data brokers.
3. Third-party services
To deliver AI features, Papi AI transmits the minimum data necessary to these processors:
- Groq Inc. — chat completion, image analysis, and audio transcription. Text, images, and audio you submit are sent to Groq for processing. Groq does not retain this data for training. Groq Privacy Policy
- Microsoft Edge TTS — text-to-speech synthesis. The text of AI replies you play aloud is sent to Microsoft to generate audio. Microsoft Privacy Statement
- Vercel Inc. — application hosting and edge delivery. Vercel Privacy Policy
- PostgreSQL database — for storing your conversation history and per-match notes linked to your anonymous device ID.
4. Data retention
Conversation history and per-match notes are retained on our servers, linked to your anonymous device ID, until you delete them or reset the app. Photos and voice recordings are processed in-memory and are not stored on our servers after processing.
5. Your rights and choices
You can at any time:
- Delete individual conversations from the chat list inside the app.
- Erase all your data via Settings → Reset everything.
- Request a copy of the data we hold linked to your device ID by emailing support@papiai.co.
- Request server-side deletion of all data linked to your device ID by emailing the same address. Provide your device ID (Settings → About → Device ID) so we can locate your records.
If you reside in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, and port your data, and the right to object to processing. We honor these requests free of charge.
6. Children's privacy
Papi AI is rated 17+ and is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If you believe a child under 17 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.2+) for data in transit and access controls on stored data. No system is perfectly secure; please do not transmit information through Papi AI that you would not want third parties to see.
8. International transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. By using Papi AI, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be announced in the app and the "Last updated" date will be revised. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
